Piano making in Estonia has been an art practiced since the late 18th century and was documented as early as 1779. The craft flourished, and during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, there were nearly 20 independent piano companies in Estonia. Among these manufacturers, Ernst Hiis-Ihse stood out as the most notable, and his handmade piano from 1893 became the prototype for the Estonia piano.
After World War II, Mr. Hiis was invited to establish a larger facility, which is now known as the Estonia Piano Factory. This facility has since become renowned for its exceptional craftsmanship and dedication to the art of piano making. With a rich heritage spanning decades, the Estonia Piano Factory continues to produce exquisite instruments that captivate musicians and enthusiasts worldwide.

This iconic model underwent refinements that further enhanced its overall performance and sound quality. By carefully fine-tuning the construction techniques and optimizing the design elements, the Model 274 exemplifies the pinnacle of piano craftsmanship.
The Model 190 received notable advancements in multiple areas, including the frame, action geometry, and pedal mechanism. These enhancements ensure a superior playing experience and allow pianists to achieve greater control and expression. With a strengthened frame, improved action geometry for precise touch response, and an upgraded pedal mechanism for enhanced sustain and dynamics, the Model 190 represents the harmonious fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern engineering.
